| Description: |
A very good 34 bore flintlock muff pistol by Utting of Borough, London. 2" turn off barrel, overall length 7". Engraved action with 'Utting Borough' on one side and 'London' on the other (both in stand of arms panels), Concealed trigger which drops when cock pulled back to full cock. Fully functional with good springs. One piece flat sided walnut grip. Engraved top safety. Vacant silver oval in grip. Full colour throughout (possibly an early re-finish). Birmingham Company Proof marks.
Note: John Utting is recorded at various addresses in Borough between 1800 and 1824. He was Gunmaker to Police Office, Union Street, Southwark between 1798-1815 |
